Storage

Keep all cheesecakes frozen until ready to serve. Thaw in the refrigerator for several hours. Just the Crust Cookies should be stored and served at room temperature.

Leftovers? Freeze cheesecakes for up to 6 months, or refrigerate for up to 5 days. Store Just the Crust Cookies at room temp for up to 10 days.

Eli's Desserts are perishable and shipped frozen, packaged with dry ice in a heavy-duty Styrofoam container so each arrives picture perfect.

Choosing your delivery date
When you check out, you'll choose the day you'd like your order to arrive, up to 30 days ahead. We deliver Tuesday through Friday. We recommend choosing a date 1–2 days before your celebration. Need a date more than 30 days out? Call us at 1-800-ELI-CAKE and we'll schedule it for you, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4pm CT.

Shipping methods
After you pick a date, you'll see the shipping methods that can get your order there on time.

Standard: Arrives on your selected date or up to 1 day early. Our cheesecakes ship frozen, so an early arrival can go right into the freezer.
Priority: Arrives on your selected date.
If your date is close, Priority may be the only option.

Order cutoff
Orders placed by 8am CT on a business day can ship that same day. Orders placed after 8am CT ship the next business day. The calendar only shows dates we can reach in time.

Dry Hot Bake

Eli broke all the rules! No water bath and a dry hot bake resulted in the most beautiful carmalized cake with a rich and creamy interior.

Shortbread Cookie Crust

Our cheesecake is baked on top of a giant all-butter shortbread cookie! It's like two desserts in one.

The best vanilla

We use only the best cold-extracted vanilla from Nielsen-Massey, a fellow family-owned business made in Illinois.

Really good dairy

We use slow-cultured cream cheese and sour cream, plus fresh creamery butter. That signature cultured tang is balanced with just the right sweetness, because we'd never use sugar to mask really good dairy.

What is Chicago-style cheesecake?

Eli’s is the definitive Chicago-style cheesecake. In 1980, Eli Schulman declared cheesecake would be the signature dessert for his legendary Chicago steakhouse, Eli’s The Place For Steak. His unconventional fast and hot baking method resulted in the creation of “Chicago-style” cheesecake, caramelized on the outside, creamy on the inside, baked on an all butter shortbread cookie crust. Over 45 years later, we’ve added more delicious sweet treats to the mix, handmade at our bakery in Chicago.

Where is Eli’s Cheesecake made?

All of our desserts are handmade at our family-owned bakery on the Northwest Side of Chicago!

Do you have Gift Cards?

You bet! We offer electronic gift certificates sent via email, to use for mail order purchases (they are not valid at our Chicago retail store). Shop for Digital Gift Cards here. 

Are your desserts Kosher?

Yes, unless noted otherwise. Our desserts are certified kosher by the Chicago Rabbinical Council. The exceptions are: Double Marshmallow Crispy Bar, Lemon Mixed Berry Cheesecake, and Moscato Berry Tira Mi Su.

What are your dietary & allergen restrictions?

Gluten Free and Gluten Friendly: Our Double Marshmallow Crispy Bars are certified gluten-free. Our Salted Caramel and Hot Chocolate Cheesecakes are made with gluten free ingredients (made in a bakery that uses ingredients containing gluten).
